980 Rum Agricola Da Madeira comes to us from Madeira, a small Portuguese island in the Atlantic Ocean, off the coast of Morocco. Here, rums are produced from pure cane juice, otherwise known as agricultural rums. The cane juice is distilled in columns, then placed in barrels of various types, which are then blended for this cuvée. In this case, we have 3- and 6-year-old rums aged in French oak barrels that have contained red wine, as well as 21-year-old rums matured in French oak barrels, this time with Madeira wine.
This rum is also "beneficiado", meaning that it has been blended with a little cane honey to round out its texture.
