Eagle Rare 10 Years Single Barrel 45°: Description and customer reviews

Eagle Rare is a 10-year-old bourbon produced by Bufallo Trace. This large distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky, produces bottled bourbon under a wide variety of brand names.

This is asingle barrel, excellent value for money.

Tasting notes from Thomas

The nose seems full-bodied yet subtle. While vanilla, coconut balsam and spices (cinnamon, pepper) are present, varnished wood is not to be outdone. After a few moments, fresh tobacco, flowers (rose, geranium, pansies) and green coffee show that this is no basic bourbon. Finally, it drifts on to a little walnut, popcorn, encaustic and a touch of honey.

The palate is lively but not aggressive, and the texture remains pleasant. A touch of honey coats the bourbon markers: coconut, bourbon vanilla and encaustic. However, we soon rediscover lightly roasted coffee and flowers (orchids, blueberries). Spices prolong the evolution of the palate, with a touch of black pepper and clove.

The finish remains subtle, with a blend of flowers, corn, coffee and toasted wood. A touch of honey, vanilla and coconut round out the finish.

" A bourbon that does not lapse into caricature and offers a rather rich aromatic panel... "

A great discovery following an evening tasting. I wasn't really a fan of Bourbons with a certain apriori, but this beautiful bottle made me change my mind and discover a new universe. Also great as a gift for friends.

On the nose 👃🏻: what predominates at first is brown sugar and to a lesser extent vanilla, with good intensity for my taste. The oak and spices blend well with the whole, without really taking over, but it has body, the tannins make themselves felt, it's quiet strength. The fruitiness is not outdone, with notes of orange and coconut.

On the palate 👅: it offers good aromatic power on the attack and here too the wood tannins are present, drying out your palate. It's definitely carried on a note of orange-scented dark chocolate with a certain freshness of spice. Vanilla, nutmeg, a little pepper and almost licorice on the finish. The woody notes are supported by hints of almond and, above all, brown caramel, giving it a toasty edge on more generous sips.

The finish is moderately long and dry here too. I find mostly caramel with nutmeg, as well as a note of corn at the very end 👌

I think that this rather consensual Bourbon will appeal to the majority without being banal, far from it! It's an accomplished and tasty product, and as soon as you've finished your glass, you'll want a second one 😁 But... don't overindulge!

Whisky not to my taste, wet wood taste. Not too much

By far the best value in bourbon...toffee, caramel and an incredible length on the palate...
As a big bourbon fan, I'd put it at the top of the list.

    Quiet pass

If you like it, we recommend :

  • A drier but more complex bourbon...
  • A lovely American expression, inherited from the bourbons...
