English Harbour 10 years Reserve 40° : Description and customer reviews

English Harbour 10 ans is anAntiguan rum made from particularly sweet molasses from the Dominican Republic and Guyana.

After distillation, the rum is kept for at least 10 years in bourbon barrels (some of which have contained Jack Daniel's), and whisky barrels. Oak shavings, added to the bottom of the casks, provide a deeper coloration and additional aromas.

The result is a smooth, fine rum.

Laurent's tasting notes

Pale gold in color.

On the nose, this is an expressive rum with relatively atypical aromas. Honey, tobacco and vanilla dominate, but more discreet notes of rubber and tar add interesting complexity.

On the palate, the attack is fairly smooth and the alcohol discreet, although this rum is dry. It's the notes that were secondary on the nose that make their mark on the palate: rubber and tar.

The finish is relatively long, with smoky, burnt aromas. A slight note of very ripe banana is noticeable, and licorice appears after a while.

Good rum, more advanced and harder-working than the 5 ans. If we could have the nose of the 5-year-old with the taste of the 10-year-old, it would be perfect.

Very satisfied, even in covid period my order arrived in 24h. I can imagine that there is an extraordinary organization behind all this.
