Fillier's Dry Gin 28: Description and customer reviews

Fillier's Dry Gin 28 is produced in a Belgian distillery according to a recipe established over 3 generations.

Distillation takes place in a still copper pot, and 28 ingredients are used in its composition. As well as the inevitable juniper berry, there are some less traditional gin aromatics, such as chillies, hops and lavender flowers.

Tasting notes from Thomas

The nose makes a smooth entrance. Juniper berries and angelica provide a solid, homogeneous backdrop. Step by step, citrus (sweet oranges) and pepper are followed by white flowers (lily) and hops. The aromas melt into each other, offering a light first taste.

The texture on the palate is soft and pleasant. While the scents are more or less the same as on the nose, the arrangement seems different. The entry is more straightforward, with a combination of sweet oranges, lime, angelica and pepper. A light veil of spiciness then appears, with a moderate hoppy bitterness. A freshness (mint, fresh ginger herbs) is then clearly perceptible. We've moved on to a drier, more herbaceous gin. The contrast between spicy warmth and herbaceous freshness seems to be the main theme of this palate.

The finish is sustained by the spicy power of candied ginger, pepper, chili and cardamom. Fresh herbs, juniper berries and hops then come to life alongside citrus (sweet oranges, lemon).

" A gin that comes alive around herbs and spices in an invigorating hot-cold..."
