Although this Flor de Caña has aged for 4 years, it is still white. It is thanks to a delicate filtration process carried out after the ageing period that this limpidity is achieved, while preserving the aromas acquired over these 4 years.
This is the case for some traditional Spanish "rons", which are quite "light" and therefore particularly suitable for consumption in cocktails: the rum is aged for a few years to give it intensity, but then filtered so that its color does not alter that of the other ingredients in the cocktail on which it is to be based.

In brief: light - toasted - floral
The nose is very light and ethereal. A hint of smokiness evokes toasted charcoal or dry vegetal. The rum opens with notes of warm, melted, cooked sugar. Roasted nuts recall walnuts or dry, roasted peanuts, then melt into peanut butter.
With aeration, the rum releases slightly floral alcohol aromas and more and more toasted wood, as well as a hint of gray pepper.
Very light on the palate, the alcohol evaporates along with the nuts. Pepper and the minerality of charcoal seize the tongue. The ethereal side of the alcohol returns with a hint of vanilla.
The finish is a little floral, giving the sensation of a light white spirit.

Rum :
an original nose with no greenness, no smell of cane. Not very intense
Vanilla appears on the palate. I hope it's the 4 years of cask ageing that has given this rum its vanilla notes. The cane is hidden. This is a rum rich in sugar. It's not syrupy, but the rum's sweetness is there.
The finish is short.
Interesting rum, original but lacking in grandeur.
