La Maison Du Rhum Republique Dominicaine 42°: Description and customer reviews

La Maison Du Rhum Republique Dominicaine is a Spanish-style rum from Dominican rum giant Oliver & Oliver. Aged in American oak barrels in the solera system, it has an average age of 12 years.

Nico's tasting notes

The nose opens with a fairly light rum, marked by roasted notes. It's the cask that has contributed the majority of the aromas, including caramel, vanilla and, of course, toasty woodiness. We can also imagine a heavily toasted cask bringing a powdery side, with a touch of charcoal and tight coffee. The rest brings us to a rum that's a little heavier in sugar and molasses, like battery syrup.

The palate is soft, with gently woody, roasted notes reminiscent of maple syrup. The rum exudes a certain warmth that distances it from the lightness of the nose. The caramel is highly cooked, accompanied by molasses and an animal touch of leather.

The finish is round and sweet, balanced with notes of roasting.

"A light rum typical of the island, with roasted notes that become very sweet on the palate..."

  • There are also hints of maple syrup in this Peruvian rum...
  • A lovely blend, more concentrated and complex...
