Longueteau sélection parcellaire n°4 Millésime 2016 55° : Description and customer reviews

The Longueteau distillery produces sélections parcellaires, i.e. cuvées made from a type of cane grown on a specific plot of land. The characteristics of each plot give the cuvées their particular aromas.

Blue cane was grown on plot n°4. This plot is located by the sea, in a dry, salty environment.

This rum was distilled in 2016.

Nico's tasting notes

Summary: fresh cane then round and gourmet - pepper - lively then candied

The nose of this white rum is fully devoted to cane. At first, it's very natural and carried by a fairly lively alcohol. Then, the cane softens considerably, becoming rounder, without leaving behind the rough nature of its straw and the peppery vegetal character. Natural, and without pretense. We imagine an energetic, straightforward ti-punch, with a very cane-like, slightly fruity rum.
Aeration makes the nose even prettier and more subtle. The balance between the roundness of the cane juice and the dryness of the reed makes this a top-flight rhum agricole. Then comes a touch of fermentation, a hint of iodine and fresh pepper. Despite everything, we can still smell the tender, candied heart of the cane, with hints of marron glacé. Never short of vivacity, this nose keeps us on our toes for a long time, now with an almost sweet, candied artichoke.

The palate opens with sugar cane and the famous steamed artichoke, soft and slightly sweet. The rum heats just right and coats the palate with round fruitiness. You could almost chew the candied, gourmet fiber that appears next.

The finish is strikingly long, with pepper, fermentation aromas and a herbal vegetal character.

"This is a superb West Indian-style cane brandy, as round as it is fresh, as flavorful as it is complex..."
