Plantation XO 20th Anniversary rum is made from a blend of Maison Ferrand's oldest Barbadian reserves (between 12 and 20 years old). After many years spent in the tropical latitudes of the West Indies, these rums are then taken to Château de Bonbonnet to be worked on by the cellar master. Finally, the blend is left to age in small cognac casks for 12 to 18 months. This double ageing system gives Plantation Rum XO 20th Anniversary great maturity and nobility of character.
Laurent's tasting notes
Its color is amber.
On the nose, it's the toasted (or even fried) coconut that immediately comes to the fore, and is increasingly present! Vanilla and orange add to this rum's gourmet character.
On the palate, it's also greedy and soft (without being too sweet). It's the vanilla that takes center stage here, relegating the coconut to second place. The texture of this rum is also gourmand.
The finish is dominated by coconut, and not just a little. There's also the sensation of something fatty and unctuous.
