Rasta Morris Bielle Ambré is a selection from Belgian bottler Bert Bruyneel. It is an agricultural rum distilled on the island of Marie-Galante. This island in Guadeloupe is one of the most authentic in the Caribbean, and Bielle is one of its best distilleries.
This amber rum spent several months in a large cask that had previously contained bourbon. Its color is natural, and it has not been cold-filtered.
Nico's tasting notes
The nose immediately brings us face to face with a dry, dense woodiness that echoes fresh cane, surrounded by solid bark. The finely spiced notes of bagasse meet those of robust, tight-fibered oak.
Aeration makes a 180° turn, replacing our wood with a soft, gourmet cane. It picked up a few tannins and transformed them into a lovely mirabelle plum jam. It's a pleasure to rediscover the unique style of the Bielle house.
On the palate, the rum is light and volatile, evaporating quickly on the tongue. This white rum sensation quickly gives way to a gently spicy woodiness, which also allows itself to titillate the tongue with little peppery touches. Meanwhile, the oak warms up and spreads out into peanut and tonka bean, with the sensation of an almost brioche-like fiber.
The finish is resolutely agricultural, and we return to our fresh cane juice lightly perfumed with a bitter zest of lime.

A very smooth, easy-drinking rum. I find it a little treacherous as the 52° is not too noticeable. Price a little too high.
