Rest & Be Thankful 2012 Monymusk MDR 46° : Description and customer reviews

Rest & Be Thankful 2012 Monymusk MDR is a 9-year-old rum produced in Jamaica from local molasses.

It was distilled in an iron still in 2012 by the Clarendon distillery, owned by the National Rum of Jamaica and part-owned by Maison Ferrand. The rum was then placed in American oak barrels for tropical and continental aging. It was then repatriated to Scotland and bottled for Rest & Be Thankful, a British brand created by Fox Fitzgerald in 2012.

Bottling took place in March 2022, without cold filtration and in its natural color. This was the first small batch, delivering a total of 6076 bottles to the market.

This rum is quite pleasant to taste. But it seems really young with its very pale color and not very pronounced flavors. There's a slight hint of pineapple and the finish is quite long, a little vanilla but above all spicy. Personally, I taste all my samples blind and in 3 batches to let the contents oxygenate. I would never have guessed that this was a Jamaican rum, and I find it lacking in flavor and character.
