This Riviere Du Mât cuvée is a single cask (cask no. 2026) reserved especially for the rum brotherhood.

This 2006 vintage was aged on Reunion Island in 400-liter French oak barrels. It was bottled incask strength.

This is a limited edition of 762 bottles.

Nico's tasting notes

The nose opens with a solvent fragrance that already hints at concentration. Intense, dry, tight wood gives off scents of roasted nuts and heady flowers. Dark berry juices complete the serious, taut profile.

Aeration loosens all that, and the rum begins to melt into dense, sweet fruit pastes. Aromas of red wine then come through, still in a rather serious atmosphere. Some red and black berry tannins, a hint of violet candy, and a new touch of solvent add to the complexity.

The palate is lively and concentrated, with fruit pastes spiked with striking spices. The waxed wood gradually unravels, becoming increasingly tender at its core. In a shell of red fruit, floral and tobacco tannins, we discover a coconut milk vanilla core, from which radiates an oily, almost tarry concentration.

The finish offers a gourmet taste of nuts, with the slight astringency of walnuts.

"A concentrated, complex rum that lends further support to Rivière du Mât's identity..."
