Rock Island 46.8°: Description and customer reviews

Rock Island is an unchill-filtered blend created by Douglas Laing through his Remarkable Regional Malts series.

This blend is placed under the sign of the sea and presents saline and peaty notes: the single malts that compose it come from the islands of Islay, Jura, Arran and Orkney.

Florian's tasting notes

Straw color. Tears are fine and disappear quickly.

The nose is full. Country and maritime at first encounter: hay, earth and peat, then minerality, reminiscent of salt and the sea. A note of candied ginger really dominates. Not far away, vanilla caramel, pear and lemon.

The palate is frank and tender, with fruit: pear with vanilla and lemon, ginger, then very light peat, a little caramel. The palate finishes with straw and pepper, followed by minerality.

The rather short finish is resolutely mineral: stone and water, seaweed.

"Very interesting, gourmet, easy and digestible, its balance will adapt to any situation..."
