The 86 Company Cana Brava Rum 43°: Description and customer reviews

The 86 Company Cana Brava Rum was conceived by Don Pancho, the celebrated maestro ronero of Panamanian distillery Las Cabras.

This is a pure cane juice rum, made from local sugar cane and continuously distilled before aging for 3-4 years, first in new American oak barrels, then in ex-bourbon barrels.
The rum is filtered 3 times before bottling, to restore its original clarity after the years spent in casks.

Nico's tasting notes

In brief: very light - woody - charcoal - vanilla - ethereal - baked sugar

On the nose, this is a light rum, with delicate, discreet notes of wood and caramel. The toasted cask gives a feeling of minerality, or is it the charcoal filtration? Vanilla and pepper take off lightly, followed closely by notes of baked sugar and flowers.
Aeration reveals a small, poignant solvent, then the rum regains its light character. It doesn't linger on the aromas, only touches the surface, whistling in a relaxed, casual way.

The palate is even lighter than the nose, and the rum would go unnoticed if you didn't pay attention. It's a rum designed to go down smoothly, without ruckus, without upsetting the palate.

On the finish, a hint of vanilla will keep you coming back for more.

"This rum is a cocktail ingredient that will bring a very subtle note of aged alcohol..."
