Spirits of Christmas comprises twenty-four 2cl glass bottles , totaling 48cl, all bottled at the same 40% ABV. Since the alcohol content remains constant, the samples can be compared based on their true differences: the raw materials, the still, the duration and type of aging… The bottles come from six producing countries . They include leading distilleries like Planteray and Rum Nation , alongside labels less widely distributed in France. The contents of each bottle remain a mystery until it is opened.
The selection of items in the gift set is the work of A Clean Spirit , a Danish company based in Odense. They focus primarily on spirits with a low environmental impact. Two brands from their catalog feature in the advent calendar: Terra Verde and Ron Sostenible. Ron Sostenible is distilled in the Dominican Republic, at a site that fuels its stills with sugarcane biomass, captures the CO₂ released during fermentation, and uses its vinasse as agricultural fertilizer. Some batches even cross the Atlantic on a sailing cargo ship, without an engine.
