Venezuelan rum is as varied as the country's geography and culture. Venezuela's hot, humid climate makes it a major rum producer. The country has been distilling rum for decades with great expertise.

Venezuela is one of the few countries to have introduced legislation in 1938 and 1954 differentiating between "aguardiente de cana" (cane brandy) and "ron". The country's legislation also requires all aged rums to be at least two years old. Finally, Venezuelan rums benefit from an appellation that guarantees their quality.

The main Venezuelan rum brands are Cacique (made by Licorerias Unidas), Carúpano (made by the distillery of the same name), Diplomatico (made by Destilerias Unidas SA, Venezuela's leading spirits producer), Macuro, Ocumare, Pampero (distilled by Industrias Pampero CA, a subsidiary of the Diageo group) and Santa Teresa.
