Venezuela
Venezuelan rum is as varied as the country's geography and culture. Venezuela, with its hot and humid climate, is a big producer of rum. This country has been distilling rum for decades with great expertise.
Venezuela is one of the few countries to have introduced legislation in 1938 and 1954 differentiating between cane brandy (aguardiente de cana) and "ron". The main brands of Venezuelan rums are Cacique (made by Licorerias Unidas), Carúpano (made by the distillery of the same name), Diplomatico (made by Destilerias Unidas SA, the first company producing spirits in Venezuela), Macuro, Ocumare, Pampero (distilled by Industrias Pampero CA which is a subsidiary of the Diageo group) and Santa Teresa.
