This Loch Lomond Single Malt Scotch Whisky, distilled in 2011 and aged for 11 years, was selected by the Rhum Attitude team.
The Loch Lomond distillery is located in the Highlands, close to the lake from which it takes its name. Its origins date back to 1964, when it was founded by the Littlemill Distilling Company. Closed in 1984 and bought by Glen Catrine in 1987, Loch Lomond produces both malt and grain whiskies.
Loch Lomond whisky is also known as Captain Haddock's favorite, as its name can be seen throughout the comics of Tintin's famous adventures.
A nod to this icon of our youth, this Rhum Attitude selection is largely the work of our Brussels team.
From the 2011 vintage, this Single Malt Scotch Whisky has been aged entirely in ex-bourbon second-fill casks. It is an unreduced single cask, brut de fût, bottled in 213 units.
Only 213 bottles come from this cask, half of which are sold on our website and the other half in our Brussels boutique.
Tasting notes from Florian Perolini, manager of our Brussels boutique
Robe: Burgundian white wine. Dense, regular, heavy tears heralding an obvious texture.
Nose: intense, cereal, grist, well malted. The lemon confit reveals itself very quickly, a berlingot! Also inhabited by beeswax, apple blossom, pear and sliced peach. Resolutely fruity, the bourbon barrel bursts forth! Spicy vanilla on the finish.
Palate: sweetness and power, waxy texture, toast, then lots of pear and lemon. It's spicy, peach surfaces. Lively, ginger, clove, blond tobacco, light white pepper.
Finish: a hint of lemon zest, zan, mineral.
