Saint James 1885 is an exceptional bottle.
Hermetically sealed, it has been stored in the best possible conditions, upright and protected from light, at the Saint James distillery.
A certificate of authenticity signed by the distillery accompanies it. Unlike the other bottle of Saint James 1885 we also offer on our site, this bottle has not been relabelled.
There is no older Saint James vintage, since that's the year the brand began producing its vintages.
These bottles are hard to find, especially as they pre-date the 1902 eruption of Mount Pelée: fortunately, some of them were stored in Metropolitan France at the time.
The Saint James distillery still owns some, but in practice no longer sells them. It recently opened one to make, with a few drops per bottle, the prestige cuvée celebrating the brand's 250th anniversary.
It's said that once bottled, rum never ages. True, the exchange with the wood in the barrel no longer takes place, but the rum continues to improve over the years, acquiring roundness, lightness and homogeneity.
Before tasting, it is absolutely necessary to let it open wide.
This Saint James 1885 is light and highly aromatic. All those who have drunk it have declared it an unforgettable experience.

I am writing from Turkey/Istanbul I have got a bottle of this rum at home but our rum is from 1877.Our rum is 1 liters and 47 alcohol by volume .Can you explain what is this bottle price and how I can sell this?
