This is a blend of selected rums aged for 15 years in American oak Bourbon casks, finished in Cognac casks (cuvée Napoléon).
The French oak of these barrels, and the delicate, complex flavor of Cognac with its characteristic fruitiness, give Napoleon its distinctive elegance and identity.
This rum is a limited edition.
Laurent's tasting notes
Its color is a coppery amber.
On the nose, it is relatively lively and the combination of different aromas is rather balanced. Caramel, orange, tobacco, sweet spices mainly, vanilla and nuts then. One might believe it to be a little more powerful than its 40°.
On the palate, the attack is soft, even sweet, but also woody. Orange, caramel and tobacco are the three main aromas.
The finish is quite long. The woody/sweet (and even slightly tannic) sensation mingles with the orange. A tobacco/smoke note gently takes over.
Marc ROBIN
Abuelo 12 is already a very good rum, but with this cognac finish it's a taste marvel.
Marc ROBIN
A wonder full of surprises! A long, fragrant finish
Gilles
Very good rum and perfect delivery
Gisela Feuz
Very good, fruity, well-rounded rum.
Pierre Jaussi
The finish was a little too long for my taste, and focused too much on the caramel/tobacco aspect.
Olivier Besse
Correct but not unforgettable...
