Packaged in a beautiful wooden case, Abuelo Centuria is an exceptional cuvée from the Varela Hermanos distillery. It is a rum that honors the age-old tradition and passion of successive generations for the production of aged rums.
Abuelo Centuria is characterized by great complexity, achieved by blending the finest and oldest rums from the family collection. Some of these vintages, aged in white oak barrels for up to thirty years, have benefited from the solera technique inspired by Spanish sherry.
Laurent's tasting notes
It has an amber color with discreet green highlights.
On the nose, wood and tobacco are first on the nose, along with a hint of minerality. It's complex and greedy. Many other aromas follow: walnut, orange, brown sugar, sweet spices and, finally, light notes of pepper and olive.
The attack is supple and the palate is even slightly sweet, with tobacco and orange in evidence. Sweetness, a certain freshness and well-integrated alcohol combine perfectly.
The finish is long and mainly woody. The pleasant walnut note is also present.
