Hearts Collection is a series of rums distilled exclusively in pot stills and sourced from a single mark.
Bottled in 2022, this 2002 vintage rum was aged for 20 years in Jamaica's tropical climate. Its congenic content is 834 g/hlap.
20 casks were selected from the 200,000 in the distillery's cellars to create 5,700 bottles for the world.
Nico's tasting notes
On the nose, the orange signature of the venerable Jamaican house is evident. The oily skin of citrus fruits splashes over a large basket of exotic fruits whose colors and aromas have taken the time to marry in a hot, humid climate.
The aeration makes the fruit explode, without any brutality, but rather with the sweetness of a spiced tarte tatin, garnished with caramelized apples, roasted apricots, peaches, then exotic fruits otherwise more exuberant. The greediness is intense, while the elegance of the rum irresistibly draws us in.
On the palate, the rum radiates warmth and light, without harshness or harshness, but with an intensity that monopolizes time and space. All our attention is focused on this vibrant core, which contains all the exoticism of molasses skilfully fermented and distilled in the traditional way, full of exotic fruits, spices, copper, resin and, of course, oily citrus peel.
The finish is oily, sticky and sap-like, with intense flavors of melted tannins, guava and quince paste.
