Karakoli is Baie des Trésors' first aged rum.
This is a pure cane juice rum distilled in 2019. The cane comes from the dry parcel named Spoutourne, also the source of the Baie des Trésors Fleurs du vent cuvée.
The difference between these two rums lies in the length of aging, since Karakoli is the same rum, but aged for 3 years.
Nico's tasting notes
On the nose , the first approach is already elegant and complex, with the sensation that the intensity will increase gradually, quietly, with class. A pinch of pepper revives the fresh cane juice, which is soon tinged with a nuanced woodiness.
With ventilation, we maintain a certain restraint, always with elegance as the key word. The woody entrusts only what is necessary to the cane, the two responding to each other in a precise choreography.
The palate continues to cultivate complexity and offers us a unique profile, both disconcerting but also in familiar territory. We simply let ourselves go along with a common thread of cane juice which is tinged with wax, very fine woodiness, menthol, citrus fruits, resinous plants, a very slight hint of roasting...
The finish is closer to the original rhum agricole, with candied lime peel and a pinch of white pepper.
“An agricultural rum that delights us with its complexity, elegance and personality…”
