Black Jama ica has aged for around 3 years in ex-Jack Daniel's bourbon barrels, which have been burnt with a blowtorch. It is this burnt wood that gives the rum, which has spent several years in contact with it, its roasted notes.
Nico's tasting notes
The nose shows a Jamaican character that for the moment slumbers under a cozy blanket of vanilla and caramel. The toasted oak is also well coated, delivering notes of caramelized nuts.
With aeration, the rounder, roasted notes take over. Nuts, led by pecans, are generously toasted and coated with caramel.
The palate is round and well roasted. Toasted wood takes the form of equally toasted and caramelized nuts, coated in molasses. After a little clearing, a few spices make their appearance, set against a light rum.
The finish is sweet, with fine accents of maple syrup and very toasted bread.
"This rather light rum will especially bring its share of roasted notes to a cocktail..."
