Boca Loca Maracuja is a passion fruit-flavored version of Boca Loca cachaça.
Like Boca Loca, this cachaça is made from the fermentation of pure, hand-grown sugarcane juice. All stages of production are carried out according to the traditions of the estate located north of Rio de Janeiro.
When making caipirinha, Boca Loca maracuja adds originality to the cocktail. It can also be enjoyed neat or on the rocks.
Nico's tasting notes
On the nose, the maracuja is very ripe. The alcohol takes the form of lychee and heady rosewater. These powerful aromas are reminiscent of candy, lollipops and sweet confectionery. The tart raspberry and passion fruit aromas are even reminiscent of syrup-based Popsicles. With rest, the fruit gains in thickness and ripeness, with a hint of ripe papaya.
Aeration allows other fruits to enter the circle: pineapple adds to the bouquet of ripe exotic fruits. The confectionery side is not forgotten, with a hint of lychee chewing gum. These fruits are so tart that they make you forget you're drinking a spirit.
On the palate, a concentrated fruit juice rushes over the taste buds. It's so intense and tangy that you can't really tell whether it's natural fruit or candy, which is often the case with ripe maracujas. Lychee is always among the fruits that come out on top, this time with a refreshing touch of melon. The whole could be reminiscent of a sorbet with slightly acidic bits of maracuja.
In the end, this Boca Loca lives up to its name: it's exalted and very strong in aroma. On the other hand, it's not overly sweet, and notes of maracuja and citrus persist without heaviness.
