Cihuatan Sahumerio 45.2°: Description and customer reviews

Cihuatan Sahumerio is a limited edition molasses rum from El Salvador. As usual, the brand invites us to discover the legends and traditions of the Mayan people. The Sahumerio is a sacred vessel owned by each family, in which they light a fire in honor of the eagle goddess Chantico. She is the deity of fire, symbolizing love, passion and happiness.

4 rums have been selected and blended to form this cuvée. These are light and heavy 12 to 14 year old rums, all aged in bourbon barrels.

Nico's tasting notes

The nose is immediately lulled by the juice of a freshly squeezed orange. A certain freshness emerges from the glass, with sweet, fruity nuances that are soon sprinkled with sweet spices.

Aeration gives latitude to the woodiness, which offers us first its freshly exposed tannins, then its fiber soaked in orange-peel rum. We also perceive a creamy side, between coconut and almond milk, with a few spicy and vegetal sparkles.

The palate is rather round and caramelized on the attack, then the candied orange peel unsurprisingly enters the scene and effortlessly conquers the palate. They add freshness, a little bitterness and an oily edge, and stand on their own for a long time.

The finish is round and caressed by sweet spices such as cinnamon and nutmeg, a natural match for the orange.

"A sweet rum that gives pride of place to the aromas of both fresh and candied orange..."
