This cask comes from Jamaica's Clarendon distillery. The Rhum Attitude team has selected this complex and generous rum.
This molasses rum was distilled in September 2012. After 10 years' aging in the tropics in an ex-bourbon cask, it quickly passed through the cellars of Liverpool before landing in our Brussels boutique at the end of summer 2023, where it continues to improve in a temperate and (sometimes) humid tropical climate...
You can come and taste it and buy 50, 70 or even 100 cl. Don't forget to bring an empty bottle - we'll fill it on the spot. Prices are as follows: 59€/50cl - 82€/70cl - 117€/1liter.
You can also order 70cl here and come to the store later, whenever you like. We'll store the rum in one of our bottles and set it aside for you.
All directions to our store and opening hours are here.
Nico's tasting notes
On the nose, this Jamaican rum needs to assert its identity and uncompromising character, with a very fruity profile that's both dry and imposing. It does so, but struggles to conceal the tender, pastry-like sweetness at its heart.
With a little aeration, it gives in to its rounder, pastry-like, almost regressive tendencies. Almond paste and coconut milk caress the nose, as if in an exotic fruit cake pastry with mineral stone nuances. Raisins and candied fruit are well soaked in rum, surrounded by whole, roasted spices that develop a slight roasted aspect.
The mouth is infinitely decomposed, like a perfume whose layers you discover as the day progresses. Here, flavors follow one another, and each sip is different. The first impression is of woodiness with hints of incense and cedar, followed by resin and resinous tannins, almost medicinal but rather sweet. This fresh woodiness gives way to spices of varying degrees of sweetness, such as nutmeg and clove, leading gently to a pastry of almonds, currants and cherries.
The finish is long, slightly coppery and mineral, with liquorice molasses making a strong impression on the taste buds.
"A rum that synthesizes quite well all the talent of its island, with this generous and energetic profile..."
