Damoiseau 3 ans is a VO vieux agricole rum, a denomination obtained thanks to a minimum of 3 years in casks. Old bourbon casks are used for ageing.
Enjoy dry, or as a ti'vieux with lime and a little brown sugar!
Nico's tasting notes
The nose is light at first, with a slightly resinous or medicinal impression. There's also a hint of solvent or hydrocarbon, which immediately brings depth and a feeling of concentration. The next moment, a powerful honey emerges, mingling with the solvent and caressing the wood.
Aeration reveals a new but well-known aspect: the famous pastry character of Guadeloupe rums. Candied fruit and raisins mingle with cane juice in a gourmet balance that's still elegant because it's measured. Toasted wood acts as a chaperone, tempering this little world.
On the palate, the rum is very fluid and ultimately lighter than expected. After an attack with a hint of acidity, the cane juice is fresh on the tongue. Spices take over and amuse the taste buds for a moment, before the rum delivers its more complex notes of pepper and dried fruit.
The finish is drier, with a distant memory of candied fruit and toasted wood.
"A rather young rum, which allows you to discover a very particular style, between fresh agricultural cane and pastry..."
