Emperor Lily White Rum 42°: Description and customer reviews

Emperor Lily White Rum is originally a blend of agricultural rums (made from freshly pressed cane juice) and traditional rums (made from molasses). These rums have been aged in French and American oak barrels respectively.

Once blended, what distinguishes Lily White from Heritage is additional charcoal filtration, or rather several filtrations (between 5 and 7) to achieve the transparency of a white rum and delicate notes.

Nico's tasting notes

The nose opens with a molasses rum that's quite surprising when you consider the rest of the Emperor range. Where the other rums are really sweet and tart, this one shows a drier profile, in a rather full-bodied English style. Notes of ripe exotic fruit and stone are reminiscent of grand aroma rums.

With aeration, the rum develops rounder notes of vanilla, tart fruit and candied vegetables. The result is a sweet, pure cane juice with a candy-like quality.

On the palate, we find the same grand aroma on the attack, with ripe pineapple and a metallic, almost iodized edge, caught in a roundness of cane sugar syrup. The ripe exotic fruit gradually fades away, to be replaced by a kirsch-like cherry stone, itself wrapped in a generous veil of vanilla.

The finish is long and sweet, with hints of stone and red fruit.

"A surprising rum that shows a tasty concentration and a very suave touch..."
