Ron Espero Añejo Especial 40°: Description and customer reviews

Ron Espero Añejo is a blend of traditional rums (molasses) aged in ex-bourbon oak barrels for between 4 and 7 years using the solera technique (old rums are placed in the same barrel with younger rums, so that the former "educate" the latter).
The rum is bottled in Panama.

Nico's tasting notes

In brief: light - caramel - vanilla - woody - spicy - sweet

On the nose, the first ethereal vapors give way to vanilla and caramelized nuts. This is a light rum that gradually finds its balance, shedding its alcohol in favor of a sweeter profile.
Aeration does it a world of good: although still quite sweet, it becomes more vegetal, spicier (pepper, nutmeg) but also fresher, with a blend of vanilla and menthol. A pleasant woody note also takes center stage.

On the palate, caramel and wood provide a certain grip. The ever-present alcohol adds freshness and reinforces the impression of a very light rum, despite a hint of vanilla.

The finish is not as sweet as one might expect, and is naturally very light.

meh, you can smell the alcohol too much.

If you like it, we recommend :

  • Real cake batter...
  • Another fine, light Latin rum...
