FAIR Rum Belize Extra Old is a traditional molasses rum produced in this small Central American country open to the Caribbean Sea and bordered by Mexico and Guatemala.
Produced through fair trade, this rum owes its existence to the participation of 6,000 small producers grouped together in a cooperative.
After fermentation and distillation, FAIR Rum Belize XO is aged for at least 5 years in bourbon barrels, taking advantage of the tropical climate, before being imported to France for packaging.
Formerly called FAIR Rum Belize 5 ans (the recipe having not changed in the intervening years), this rum won the silver medal in its category at the 2015 Paris Rum Fest.
Laurent's tasting notes
FAIR Rum Belize XO has a light amber color.
On the nose, there's a pleasant, present woodiness that goes perfectly with vanilla fruit (banana and cherry). It also has a surprisingly Jamaican feel. The whole is intense and lively.
Its texture is pleasant on the palate. The aromas and intensity of the nose are clearly present.
The finish is fairly long and slightly tannic. This rum leaves a roasted, subtly bitter impression. A hint of watermelon comes as a surprise.
"Rum produced according to fair trade standards, rare enough to be highlighted!"
Laurent

Very good, not very complex, but can be drunk again and again for a good value. A must have in your cellar
