Flor de Caña 18 ans has been aged in small bourbon casks for 18 real years, which is not always the case for traditional Spanish rums, especially those aged in solera, where the age indicated is often that of the oldest component.
The result of this long ageing process is a very woody, powerful rum with a long finish.

Its color is amber.
On the nose, we're on a ron, no doubt about it. Aromas of caramel and vanilla, a sweet impression, but that's not all. Woody notes, a touch of orange and a hint of walnut. And it's not without a certain liveliness.
On the palate, the attack is less sweet than one might expect, and also more woody. Caramel and vanilla are again present, but as the whole is dry, it gives this duo a new perspective.
The finish is not very long and rather discreet. A slight bitterness is felt, and the vanilla-caramel pairing - with the influence of wood - still dominates this last stage of the tasting.
