Isautier Arrangé Mandarine Sauvage is a speciality created by the Reunionese firm Isautier, now famous for its incomparably gourmet arrangés. For this recipe, we selected "vangassaye" mandarins, a wild species found in the south of the island. We then blended an alcoholate of these mandarins (a distillation of the fruit with alcohol) with Isautier rum, for a result to be enjoyed well chilled, and even frosted.
Nico's tasting notes
The nose is warm, and the mandarin peel seems generously candied. The bitterness is well-balanced, enriching the rum with its oily intensity. The freshness of the fruit then does the rest, tempting us to dip our lips in it.
The palate is very round, very warm and generous, with a real emphasis on mandarin. Its slightly bitter oil occupies the taste buds at first, then its tangy pulp finishes by seducing us.
"A very round, warm arranged rum, which renders the mandarin from every angle..."
