Tasting notes from Thomas
The nose immediately evokes pastry without being heavy or too sweet. Peach cakes, egg creams with exotic fruits and milk caramels provide a gentle introduction. This is how gourmet fruit comes to the fore. Cinnamon and roasted hazelnuts follow.
Aeration reveals hints of dark chocolate shavings and a hint of coffee. Finally, it reveals subtle floral notes (acacia, violet, orange blossom) and a hint of breadcrumbs.
The palate is soft and unaggressive. This is the moment when chocolate and coffee meet with ease. There are brief hints of tiramisu before the fruit (peaches, oranges) returns. Finally, the second half of the palate reinforces the roasting, while gaining some spice (cinnamon, clove), caramel and smoky wood. However, the whole remains quite round and easy to drink.
The finish is strongly roasted (cocoa, mocha), but retains a creamy patina. Oranges, cocoa, licorice, waxed wood and spices (clove, cinnamon, cardamom, black pepper) remain on the palate.
" A whisky where pastry and roasting go hand in hand, while remaining balanced by the spices..."
