Malecon Reserva Superior is a rum from Panama made in the tradition of Cuban rums.
Aged for 12 years in ex-bourbon American oak barrels.
Nico's tasting notes
The nose of this rum is quite fine, even pale in the first moments. The first impression is of fresh vanilla, while blond caramel and sweet spices follow in its wake.
Aeration allows a cloud of smoke to settle quietly over the glass. The rum seems to show us a more concentrated, almost animal heart, with notes of smoke and leather.
The palate is smooth and balanced, but immediately gives way to a rather concentrated, aromatic rum. Despite its round, delicate texture, it delivers rather full-bodied, authentic notes of fermented molasses. There's leather, a hint of olive and a nice licorice roundness. The aromas of the barrel are not to be outdone, dressing up the rum with their slightly smoky, roasted notes.
The finish is greedy, and returns to a certain calm assured by the vanilla.
"A sweet but concentrated rum that doesn't give in to the easy way out and offers us beautiful, authentic aromas..."
