Mauritius Rom Club Sherry Spiced is a blend of rums from Mauritius, infused with spices in barrels that have previously contained sherry.
It can be enjoyed neat, on the rocks or in cocktails.
Nico's tasting notes
In brief: round - sweet spices - fruit - wood - pastry.
On the nose, cherry dominates the profile. It's the kind of cherry you find in cocktails or candied fruit pastries. All this is sweet, slightly spicy, but also soft and milky, reminiscent of sweet almond.
Aeration unambiguously confirms the cherry aromas, while the spices take up a little more room, with the pastry-like quality of baked apples. A hint of lemon enlivens the whole at times.
The palate is very round and deeply marked by cherry. It is again accompanied by sweet spices such as vanilla and cinnamon, and by a pale, moist woodiness.
The finish is reminiscent of cherry soda with its pepper, and then always that pale woodiness that sometimes takes on an air of licorice stick.
"We often think of Cherry rather than Sherry for this spiced rum with its very gourmet aromas..."
