New Grove Emotion 1969 47°: Description and customer reviews

A blend of different rums, the oldest of which was distilled in 1969, this New Grove Emotion cuvée came as a surprise when it was voted "Canne d'or", or best rum of the year, by the jury of the International Sugarcane Awards.

A very fruity rum, highlighted by pastry and citrus notes.

Nico's tasting notes

The nose offers us a typically New Grove fruity concentration, but here shows an intensity never seen before. The fruit marmalade is reduced to a sticky juice, an essential oil of citrus and maracuja. The oily sensation is maintained, with a slightly full-bodied typicity that quickly becomes more pastry-like as it adorns itself with kernels and almonds.

Aeration releases the aromas of oak, which are ample and gourmand. It delivers notes of vanilla, coconut, blond tobacco and sweet spices, before taking a darker, roasted turn.

On the palate, we find all the concentration we expected, discovering a sticky, dense and flavorful rum. The first slightly smoky, oily notes show us that it's not about making concessions, but about delivering intensity. These same notes stretch and melt, then quietly change to apricot jam and quince jelly. The woodiness seems to have cooked with the fruit, taking on the texture and aromas of melting dark chocolate, set against freshly toasted oak.

The finish is very rounded and gourmet, with vanilla flavors that linger on the lips and quince paste that sticks to the palate for a long time.

" A New Grove at the height of its potential, detailing its usual talents with unprecedented focus... "
