Nine Leaves Last Drops Rum is from the last batch distilled by Yoshiharu Takeuchi in 2023. Located in Otsu, Shiga Prefecture, the Nine Leaves distillery ceased operations in 2023 after 10 years of rum production.
This expression is part of a series of 5 vintages inspired by the traditional Japanese card game Unsun Karuta.
Nine Leaves rum was made from pure water from an underground spring adjacent to the distillery. Kokuto sugar comes from the Okinawa archipelago. The process involves a 4-day fermentation and then a double distillation in two Scottish Forsyth's stills. The first is similar to the Chichibu stills while the second is in the style of Glenmorangie stills.
