Pacific Ace Rhum Vieux Squadron 303 45°: Description and customer reviews

Pacific Ace is a rum created by Squadron 303.

This assembly is a tribute to the US Marine Corps squadron. During the Second World War, the pilots of this squadron who flew in the Pacific under the command of Greg "Pappy" Boyington became known as the South Pacific Aces. Hence the name "The Pacific Ace".

Between battles, these aviators used to buy a rum that inspired the recipe for this cuvée.

The special feature of this rum is that it has been smoked with sandalwood.

Note that this beautiful bottle can be reused as a carafe or flask.

Yoann's tasting notes

The nose is dominated by stewed, even candied, exotic fruits. They are ripe and juicy, slightly caramelized. A stick of dried vanilla is carried to our nostrils, along with a few notes of toasted coconut. A hint of smoke is present.

The palate is rather moderate in intensity and round. The juice of stewed fruit flows over the tongue and transforms into a fresh marmalade. The palate is faithful to the nose, with smoky notes that return but are not overpowering.

The finish is balanced and carried by vanilla and spices. The smoke disperses quickly and is not oppressive.

Incredible rum. Peaty at the beginning and floral towards the end. Great
