Pampero Aniversario is a traditional Spanish ron from Venezuela. It is a blend of rums aged in bourbon casks for 4 to 6 years.
Laurent's tasting notes
Its color is amber.
The nose is dominated by caramel. More discreet notes of wood, coconut and chocolate are also present. The alcohol titillates the nostrils despite the "small" 40%.
On the palate, the attack is smooth, and the aromas are in line with the nose, with caramel (still dominant), roasted/chocolate and wood. Coconut is replaced by tobacco, which makes an appearance.
The finish is rather brief, with tobacco and discreet vanilla remaining for a few moments before fading away.

Rum that lives up to the description: fine, round and sweet.

A gift for a Hispanic-loving friend, it does the job for a no-holds-barred, highly accessible drink. Less sweet and less expensive than the usual commercial daubes. Nice Q/P in this case
