Planteray Rum continues to innovate each year with new vintages. For the “Single Cask 2024” collection, two new provenances are highlighted, including Paraguay.
This rum from the 2019 vintage comes from the Fortin distillery. This is one of the largest houses in Latin America. This distillery cultivates three varieties of sugar cane on more than 1,500 hectares and produces its rum using an artisanal process. The freshly pressed cane juice is cooked to produce a cane honey. It is then fermented and then distilled in a column.
As for aging, the Planteray house follows its traditional pattern. After an initial maturation of 3 years in ex-bourbon casks, the rum aged for one year in ex-cognac casks from the Ferrand house. It was only afterwards that the rum benefited from a final 12-month refinement in new casks. These are casks that previously contained a Rye Whisky from the Finnish distillery Kyrö.
This vintage was bottled in 2024.
