Cut & Dry Coconut is a rum from Planteray Rum. In fact, it's the new name of the Plantation Rum brand.
A tribute to the heritage of Barbados, this elixir brings together two icons of Caribbean culture. On the one hand, cane brandy, and on the other, coconut.
Made with rum from the West Indies Rum Distillery in Barbados and fresh coconut, Cut & Dry is a limited edition. The distillery, in partnership with the Caribbean Agricultural Research and Development Institute and the International Trade Centre's Alliances for Action program, is helping to develop agriculture on the island. This gives it access to a limited stock of coconuts.
The latter, harvested on the island, are cut and air-dried. The pieces are then infused in a blend of white rums distilled in columns and pot stills. On average, 1 fresh coconut is required for 1 liter of rum.
The infusion is then blended with an aged rum, aged between 3 and 4 years.
Cut & Dry Coconut is ideal for cocktails, whether Piña Colada or Daiquiri.
Nico's tasting notes
On the nose , the natural coconut is striking and even larger than nature. We can easily imagine the flesh of the coconut and its sweet, milky, but also slightly woody character. We also feel a certain roundness which generously coats the whole, as well as a handful of spices which join us after a little time.
In the mouth , the texture is much lighter than one might imagine, and this Cut & Dry glides on the palate with the ease of coconut water. We discover a surprising note of milk chocolate from the start, which will follow us on its milky side throughout the tasting, which ends with dried coconut flesh.
