Rum Nation Guatemala Gran Reserva is a selection from the famous Italian bottler. This Guatemalan rum was distilled in Tulula, using local molasses. It was then aged in American white oak barrels that had previously contained bourbon. Aging for 4 years in an almost tropical climate has given this light rum a fine balance.
Nico's tasting notes
The nose is carried by a certain sweetness that develops well-known aromas of caramel, vanilla and sweet spices. But it doesn't stop there, as it soon intrigues with a slightly smoky, oily facet.
With aeration, this smoky touch takes on just the right amount of fullness, forming a very pleasant balance with rounder notes. This brings to mind wood, cigar and even leather.
The palate is quite complex, yet soft and rounded. It immediately envelops the palate with its sweet, suave touch, then spreads out a very tender oak cask, filled with vanilla and mild spices. A few toasty notes are picked up in a rum honey studded with sweet spices.
The finish is delicious, with a lightly salted caramel with roasted highlights.
"A very gourmand but nevertheless complex rum..."
