Samaroli 2004 Haiti Edition 2022 45°: Description and customer reviews

Samaroli 2004 Haiti is a selection from Samaroli, the Italian merchant founded in 1968.

Samaroli had not bottled rum from Haiti for 7 years. In 2022, they rectify this with this 2004 vintage aged in Scotland.
The single cask bearing the number 10 yielded 301 numbered bottles.

Nico's tasting notes

The nose is divided between a certain tangy lightness and an exotic jam with fruity depth. In a bubble of caramel with toasted nuts, we find exotic fruits with languorous heat, as well as a little candy with red fruits and milk.

With ventilation, the fruits become more and more tropical, so that we now find ourselves on the stall of an exotic market brimming with color. Fatty and resinous plants are involved, as are spices, but all this retains a certain measure and a certain elegance.

The palate is soft and coppery, with a style very close to a certain fruity and pastry “English tradition”. In fact, we evolve into a sort of syrup of exotic fruits and stones, the latter being sufficiently prominent to avoid excess sweetness. The almond milk tinted with pine sap works well and makes the whole thing particularly tasty.

The finish sees some bursts of roasting which become one with the copper and the stones, for a slightly full-bodied signature.

“A real rum that ticks all the boxes without hiding behind its barrel…”

If you like it, we recommend :

  • A rum from Guyana, fruity and a little more full-bodied...
  • A very old rum with a fruity and delicious character...
