Nico's tasting notes
The nose opens with a rum typical of the Cuban tradition, with extra depth. It opens with toasted oak powder, a hint of ground coffee, then sweet-spiced mirabelle plum jam with orange peel.
With aeration, the citrus peel becomes more powerful, bringing a handful of fruit pastes in its wake. These include aromas of blackberry, quince and plum, as well as a hint of fruits à l'eau-de-vie with protruding pits, such as prunes and cherries.
The palate is rather round and, above all, full-bodied, with the extra depth we saw on the nose. This rum offers plenty of chewiness, with a base of toasted nut paste garnished with sweet spices. This impression could also evoke maple syrup, as the sensation becomes sweeter and sweeter as the tasting progresses.
The finish is finally fruity, with a hint of copper reminiscent of pits and nuts, and a texture that is decidedly softer and softer.
"A full-bodied Cuban rum, with a very sweet mouthfeel..."
