Savanna agricole 7 ans 2002 fût de cognac F111 50cl 46° : Description and customer reviews

This agricultural rum from Reunion's Savanna distillery is a 7-year-old single cask. After distillation in 2002, it was casked on 18/10/2004 until March 2012.

This barrel, numbered 111, was used to fill 1,032 bottles after reduction to 46°. They are all numbered.

Nico's tasting notes

On the nose, the rum's concentrated, aromatic core explodes out of the glass, yet with the heaviness of thick, soft velvet. A hint of medicine adds to the unique profile, an identity that asserts itself with hints of eucalyptus.

Aeration lets us into a toasted barrel, sealed with putty and with a slight patina of tar. Incense scents emerge, a blend of exotic spices and smoke. They mingle with the slightly reduced cane juice.

On the palate, we are treated to a fruit salad with eucalyptus syrup, another sign of a unique personality, far removed from the standards of West Indian rhum agricole. Here, from soft oak to vanilla and cooked cane juice, everything is tinged with a hint of green, resin and herbs. Yet it's all very smooth, mellow and candied, like a syrup.

The finish is enhanced by a pinch of lime zest, for a cane juice that returns to its natural state.

"An agricultural rum that shows a fine personality thanks to its medicinal nuances..."
