Easy Peasy is a collection of reduced, "easy" spirits, as the name suggests. It was launched in 2023 by independent bottler Swell de Spirits.
This first edition is a blend of 4 rums from exotic origins, aged in the tropics for up to 2 years:
- 2 column-distilled molasses rums, one from the Philippines, the other from Eswatini (a small country formerly known as Swaziland, located between Mozambique and South Africa).
- 2 rums made from pure cane juice, the first column-distilled in Vietnam and a second from Ghana distilled in an iron still.
The respective proportions are 35% for Filipino rum, 35% for Eswatin rum, 15% for Vietnamese rum and 15% for Ghanaian rum.
Nico's tasting notes
The nose opens with almond milk which tends to thicken into frangipane, which naturally leads us towards a warm and pastry profile, like a banana bread or a still steaming muffin.
With a little air, some fruits in syrup flow under the nose. We can think of pear, peach, pineapple. Then these fruits become more snacked, caramelized and found sprinkled with sweet spices.
The mouth surprises with its extreme deliciousness, like a well-buttered fudge that melts in the mouth with its flavors of grapes and rum. The palate finds itself coated with sweet spices, cake batter, with a little vegetal and slightly resinous liquor which flows gently over the taste buds.
The finish is full of green almond, then other fatty nuts.
