The Nectar Ghana 2 ans is part of the Antipodes collection created by La Maison du Whisky in 2022. It is a rum bottled by the Belgian brand "The Nectar".
It was distilled in 2020 in a pot still following a long fermentation of cane juice.
It is a limited edition of 320 bottles. So you'll understand our decision to offer it only as a sample, to satisfy as many connoisseurs as possible.
Nico's tasting notes
On the nose, concentrated cane juice asserts itself with character. Slightly reinforced by olive tapenade, it delivers a sweet, generous profile that's also very direct and massive. Its edges are trimmed by peppery nuances emanating from fresh wood, whose slightly green tannins merge with the herbaceous side of the cane.
With aeration, the cane juice relaxes and takes on a decidedly sweet air. With its vegetal yet rounded character, it sometimes touches on ketchup sauce. Then it moves on to yellow fruit jam, with hints of citrus marmalade and lemongrass.
The palate is just like the nose, alternating between the sweetness of cane juice and the assertiveness of a powerful rum. Flavors explore cane in a vegetal, natural, herbaceous but candied, slightly wild light, followed by the raw sugar side, with hints of caramel and licorice.
The finish is slightly spicy, and the toasted wood blends very well with the cooked cane juice.
"A natural and generous cane brandy, treated with respect and delicacy..."
