That Boutique-Y 12 ans is a molasses rum selected by a British trading company owned by Maverick Drinks.
It was produced by the Diamond distillery in Guyana, distilled in a Savalle 4-column still. This 18th-century still comes from the Uitvlugt distillery, formerly located on the west bank of the Demerara River. It bears the ICBU mark, which means, among other things, that it is bottled from a single cask.
This batch number 1 was bottled in 406 units. Each bottle is numbered.
Nico's tasting notes
The nose of this Demerara is very light, as indicated by its distillation and the accompanying mark. A few floral and fruity glimmers hasten out of the glass in the first moments, before fading into ethereal notes.
Aeration gives us a clearer vision of the fruity flights of fancy that arrive, in the form of fresh blood orange pulp from which a little juice is squirted.
The palate plays on the contrast between the flavors of the sugar and the power of the distillate. The result is a full-bodied candy, an alcoholic barbapapa that melts and evaporates on the palate, leaving a hint of vanilla.
The finish is spicy, almost spicy, with rum swarming on the taste buds for quite a while.
"A truly light Demerara, which once again proves all the possibilities offered by Guyana's stills..."
