The Peat Monster is a blend of malt whiskies from Islay (Port Askaig in particular) and Speyside (Ardmore).
All aged for 10 to 16 years in ex-bourbon barrels.
The result is a particularly smoky whisky.
Florian's tasting notes
Young white wine for dress; tears are thick and quick.
The nose unleashes the power of peat, and the farm: hay, earth, burning crates and hot rock. Lots of minerality and lemon. Very juicy and flowery, with white and yellow flowers such as lantana. Wax and berlingot candy.
Unctuous, with a fine entry on the palate. Rich, herbal, smoky hay and cagot, the peat is complemented by lemon, its juice / berlingot candy and minerality. The impression of being by the sea.
Then toast and rubber.
Finally, wax and vanilla, slightly pastry-like.
The finish is long and mineral, bittersweet peat accompanied by citrus.
"Very good, very good, very balanced. Mastered! A beautiful creation based on peat..."
