Tiki Lovers 50° is a Jamaican rum distilled in pot stills. It is first aged for 3 to 5 years, then blended with Trinidad & Tobago rum before being charcoal-filtered to restore its initial transparency (but not the aromas, which remain intact). And that's not all! The finishing touch: a little white rum, this time freshly distilled from a column still, is added to bring out the fruit and floral notes.
It is therefore a "rhum vieux blanc".
It will delight bartenders and lovers of Tiki cocktails.
Nico's tasting notes
In brief: fruity - solvent - round - light
The nose opens with a rather full, Jamaican-style rum. Despite a very reasonable alcohol content, the aromas are projected far from the glass. The famous ripe exotic fruits are quite pleasing, with a hint of copper, but also a certain sweetness of almond and sugar syrup.
Aeration won't necessarily bring complexity, but it will give the rum a more balanced air. It then finds its profile, between slightly acidic fermented exotic fruits and gourmet tutti frutti.
On the palate, once again, the strength is measured. The alcohol is more present in the range of aromas, however, and this is a rum that will seek to assert itself in cocktails. It gains in roundness on the mid-finish, where we find our basket of very ripe fruit, from which a few floral notes also emerge.
The finish is light, with a metallic touch and a few ethereal notes.
