This cachaça 150 is a cuvée created to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Ypioca distillery. The Ypioca group is the biggest cachaça producer in Brazil, and therefore in the world.
This cachaça was bottled after 6 years' ageing. It was aged for 3 years in Beaume barrels, then for a further 3 years in oak barrels.
Cachaça is a brandy distilled from freshly pressed sugarcane juice. If it had to be compared to another spirit, it would undoubtedly be agricultural rum from the French West Indies. It is generally reduced to a lower degree before bottling, but its production process is similar to that of rhum agricole.
